Lifegate Church, originally known as Padstow Church of Christ, began in the 1950's. It was affilliated with the Churches of Christ movement in NSW. Lifegate Church is still an active part of this movement.
The front halls were built first and as the church grew, the larger hall which is now our Worship Centre at Padstow, was constructed in the 1970's.
In 2004, the church was led by the Spirit to change the name to Lifegate. From this time, the church has been on a journey of understanding our place in God's Kingdom and seeing more and more clearly God's desire for His church.
October 2006 saw the arrival of the Wattle Grove congregation, a group of people passionate about Jesus and sharing Jesus with their community.
In 2008, Nathan Green became the Senior Pastor of Lifegate Church. Nathan is married to Michelle and they have two small children. Nathan grew up in Padstow and attended Padstow Park Primary School and then East Hills Boys. After school he studied to become a High School Music Teacher and taught for nine years, during which time he studied a degree in ministry at Tabor College.
Nathan has a great passion for reaching those who do not yet know Jesus, and seeing them enter the freedom and purpose that Jesus has made possible for each person who responds to Him.
Lifegate is now a healthy, vibrant, youth and families church that desires to follow Jesus' mission set in Luke 4:18-19. Jesus declares:
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
We at Lifegate believe Jesus' mission is also our mission to the world.
